The importance of Marketing in Sustainability

The development of sustainability strategies is relatively complex, and this same complexity depends on many factors specific to the environment where it will be implemented, and beyond. But there is a fundamental tool for the whole process, and not always seen with due attention. I'm refering to Marketing.
So what is the importance of a Marketing Strategy for Sustainability? If you think a company or organization where the focus is the customer, how can Marketing not be considered as an integral and essential tool? Marketing will serve to work internally and externally, will be instrumental in implementing the strategy, will serve to communicate or to communicate better and better and more, will serve to interconnect processes and supplementary duties. How then is it not important?
