Not everything is bad...

In Portugal we live effectively in a situation of general crisis, economic, financial, and perhaps shortly, social as well. The country is looked with suspicion, but forgetting that there are many good examples at various levels, such as business. Of course that few or many examples of success, do not solve the problem of years of irresponsible political governance.
Highlighting an example, not by any professional or personal preference, but having read an article about it and, especially, being a Portuguese company with a huge export potential. The ICC - Lavoro, which specializes in professional footwear, is based in Guimarães. The company currently exports about 90% of its production, having as clients multinational companies from sectors like automotive, aviation, beverages, IT and others.
Clearly that a company like this, not only produces in a high quality level, but the entire product life cycle, the entire value chain is thought point by point,  creating value. Otherwise they would not have the current performance and growth potential.
But this example serves mainly to illustrate that, by having problems in certain areas because there are bad examples, because they mismanage in certain areas, does not mean that all other surrounding is also poor and bad. There are portuguese people, organizations and companies working in a world class level.

Nem tudo é mau...

Em Portugal vivemos efectivamente numa situação de crise generalizada, económica, financeira e, talvez brevemente, social também. O país é olhado de soslaio, com desconfiança, mas esquecendo que existem muitos e bons exemplos, a vários níveis, como o empresarial. Claro que sejam poucos ou muitos os exemplos de sucesso, não resolvem o problema da governação irresponsável durante anos a fio.
Destaco um exemplo, não por qualquer preferência pessoal ou profissional, mas por ter lido um artigo sobre a mesma e, principalmente, por ser uma empresa portuguesa com um enorme potencial exportador. A ICC - Lavoro, especializada em calçado profissional, está sediada em Guimarães. A empresa exporta actualmente cerca de 90% da sua produção, tendo como clientes multinacionais dos ramos automóvel, aviação, bebidas, IT, etc.
Percebe-se obviamente que uma empresa como esta não só produz com qualidade, mas todo o ciclo de vida do produto, toda a cadeia de valor é pensada ponto a ponto e de forma a criar valor. De outra forma não teriam a performance actual e o potencial de crescimento.
Mas este exemplo serve principalmente para ilustrar que por haver problemas em determinados sectores, por existirem maus exemplos, por se gerir mal em determinadas áreas, não significa que toda a restante envolvente seja também má, existindo pessoas, organizações e empresas a trabalharem a um nível superior, de categoria mundial.
